1. Introduction

Anchora ("we", "our", or "us") is a mobile application that delivers daily quotes personalized to your interests and mood. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum data needed to provide and improve the app:

  • Device identifier — A randomly generated ID stored on your device. Used to create an anonymous account so you can save favorites and preferences without registering.
  • Account information (optional) — If you sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we store your name and email address to identify your account across devices.
  • Preferences — Categories you select (e.g. motivation, wisdom), mood settings, and theme choices. Stored to personalize your daily quote.
  • Favorites & collections — Quotes you save and how you organize them.
  • Interaction log — Which categories you engage with most, capped at 500 entries and stored on-device. Used to improve personalization.
  • Crash reports — Anonymous crash data collected via Sentry to help us fix bugs. No personal information is included.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Select and personalize your daily quote
  • Sync favorites and preferences across your devices
  • Send optional daily reminder notifications (you control the schedule)
  • Diagnose crashes and improve app stability
  • Display non-personalized ads to free-tier users

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • RevenueCat — Manages premium subscriptions. Processes payment through Apple App Store and Google Play; we never see your credit card details.
  • Sentry — Crash reporting and performance monitoring. Receives anonymous error data only.
  • Google AdMob — Displays ads to free-tier users. AdMob may use device identifiers for ad targeting per its own privacy policy.
  • Apple & Google Sign-In — Authentication providers. We receive only the information you authorize (name and email).

5. Data Storage & Security

  • Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) and are never exposed to other apps.
  • Server data is stored in an encrypted MongoDB database hosted on secure infrastructure.
  • All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is shared only with the service providers listed above, solely to operate the app.

7. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account through the app's Settings page, all associated data (favorites, preferences, interaction logs) is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data — view your profile, preferences, and favorites in the app at any time.
  • Correct your data — update your name, email, preferred categories, or mood in Settings.
  • Delete your data — delete your account from Settings > Account > Delete Account. This is permanent and cannot be undone.
  • Opt out of notifications — disable daily reminders in Settings or through your device's notification settings.

9. Children's Privacy

Anchora is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
